The A List Lounge

So, not that I am the "authority" on downtown but I do see quite a bit working down here.

My work friends and I chat about "tainted spaces" and it looks like the old Bimini Bills is one of them. The next venture in that space (212 S Ludlow) will be The A List Lounge. I love to read Alexis Larsen's write-up in the DDN. See below for her write up from the paper yesterday.

Demetrius Wright and Donald Jones have big plans for the former Bimini Bills location at 212 S. Ludlow St. in downtown Dayton and it comes with an equally ambitious name — A List Lounge.
The co-owners of the A List Lounge say they are looking to attract the “after five downtown professionals that are 30 and up.”
Wright assures that those who remember Bimini Bills will still recognize the space with it’s handsome brick walls and spacious bar, but there will be many differences as well including the kitchen area which has been converted into a lounge space and a larger dance floor with couches along the walls. Wright explains, “it’s like an upscale lounge and sports bar.”
Wright and Jones currently say they have plans to open sometime during the second week of November.
The Lounge will not have a menu and will be cocktails and drinks only says Wright. Business casual attire will be required for customers and music from the ’80s and ’90s will be showcased. Wright and Jones say they see themselves as similar to another recently opened downtown bar — Sidebar — except for “bigger and we have a dance floor.”
Some things they have planned for visiting A-Listers include a Thursday Latin dance night which will include instruction, an old school night on Friday’s that will include 92.1 FM broadcasting live and karaoke backed by a live band (Dave Speed and Band) on Saturdays.
Wright said he has been doing club promotion for the last 15 years and this has been a long time coming with an active search for an A List Lounge space going on for the the last year-and-a-half.

Dayton Urban Nights Sept 12-08

Friday, September 12, from 5 to 10 p.m
Their were over 25,000 people downtown Dayton for the spring Urban Nights.
It's always a great time to see the city and what it has to offer after work hours. They always have specials and discounts at lots of restaurants, and shops stay open later for people that don't get to come downtown that often.

My favorite part is all of the street performers and bands that are set up throughout downtown. Not to mention all of the art galleries are open and free to browse, and most offer some snacks and drinks. So, make some time to get re-introduced to Dayton and what it has to offer downtown.

Don't forget taste of Miami Valley is the same night. http://www.dineoutdayton.org

The old Night Owl to reopen as Blind Bob's in early August

As many of you know the Night Owl was sold and the gutted. When I walked past it the last time I thought maybe they where going to destroy the whole building. Come to find out they are putting a new place in there that is still going to cater to live music but will also have so me food. The name of this new place is going to be called Blind Bob's. From what I understand it will have an American food menu and is going to look really great when they get finished. I will try and get some pictures for people that don't venture downtown Dayton very often. If you guys have any more info let us know.

Dublin Pub and Seven Nation

Well welcome to my first post at Renew Dayton. I was at Dublin Pub the
other night with a bunch of friends. There was a great band playing
called Black 47. They were kind of Celtic rock/punk. Really good band.
Check them out on iTunes. While I was there I noticed that July 16th
they are going to have Seven Nation there for 10$ per person. I saw
them at the Dublin last time they where in town and they Rock! If u
like Celtic rock don't miss this show. http://www.dubpub.com/ for more info.
